Under the Stars

This project was my first official design at the University of Illinois in cooperation with Lyric Theatre @ Illinois. It was the first time I have worked in an outdoor setting which provided a unique feel to the performance and a different style of design than I am used to. This show provided an exciting blend of theatrical lighting for the stage and actors and architectural lighting on the trees surrounding the stage to help set the mood. I joined the design team for this production during the later part of the process which did not give me much time to explore the space, plot, or songs so I had to trust my gut on design decisions and work quickly and effectively. I found my magic sheet and paperwork very helpful in completing the show with only one tech rehearsal.
